Isak STUCK in Popularity Tug of War!

Newcastle's Alexander Isak is eyeing big moves this summer. However, his popularity ranking tells a different story.

Isak to Force a Move?

Alexander Isak is currently at the center of a transfer saga that has captured the attention of the football world. Despite the growing headlines, the Newcastle United striker’s popularity has not shifted this week, as he remains ranked 82nd overall in the GVPR. Isak is by far and away the most popular player at Newcastle, with Bruno Guimarães in a distant second place. Isak’s popularity is more in line with those at Liverpool, and his desire to join the Premier League champions has become one of the hottest talking points of the summer. His head is fully turned towards a move to Anfield, and he’s making it known.

This past week, Isak took a bold step in his efforts to force a move to Merseyside. He was not included in Newcastle’s squad for their pre-season tour in South Korea, a clear signal of his intentions. Instead, the Swedish international returned to train at his former club, Real Sociedad, while awaiting further developments. He has since rejoined training at Newcastle, but it’s evident that the player is still pushing behind the scenes for a deal.

Popularity Tug of War

Despite the latest drama, Isak’s GVPR position has remained stable. Interesting, other players around him in the GVPR have seen significant movement in their rankings — some rising, others falling. Isak’s popularity is tied up in a tug of war. Newcastle fans are growing frustrated with his behavior and his attempts to leave, creating a negatively charged narrative surrounding the Swede. However, Liverpool supporters eager for his arrival to further bolster the Reds squad are actively entertaining the idea. These two forces of positive and negative sentiment are cancelling each other out, leaving his ranking frozen.
